Tanzu Spring Support is a commercial support contract for open source Spring components. This support contract covers the full stack unlike many others in the industry that can’t or simply don’t offer the level of support we can for the application itself. Customers pay for 24x7 support, patches, updates and access to other enterprise capabilities that extend Spring's open source offerings.
What does full application stack mean when talking about Tanzu Spring?
The full application stack includes: Java, Apache Tomcat® and Spring.
Which products are covered under Tanzu Spring and Spring support?
The official list of all projects supported can be found above. There's no need to obtain specific binaries from VMware to be supported.

Spring support (for Spring Boot 2.7 and all projects aligned with the Spring Boot 3 line) includes bug fixes and security patches as well as quarterly LTS releases that include dependency updates to keep your apps in a healthy state.

What's the difference between commercial support and open source support for Spring projects?
Commercial support provides at least an additional 12 months of support (including access to bug fixes and security patches) beyond the initial 12 months of support provided in OSS. It also guarantees a minimum of 12 months of support overlap to give you time to upgrade at your pace. Open source support for Spring Boot 2.7 ended on November 25, 2023.
How are upgrades and security patches handled for OpenJDK™ distribution?
New binaries will be available from VMware's Distribution of OpenJDK. Alternatively, Bellsoft's Liberica JDK/JRE binaries can also be downloaded directly from their website. These binaries are also supported by VMware.
How are upgrades and security patches handled for Spring projects?
New binaries will be available from repo.spring.vmware.com.

Will there be any licensing changes for commercial releases of Spring OSS projects?
There will be no changes to the license between OSS and commercial releases. All patches are licensed under the Apache 2 license.

Yes, the source code will be made available along with the binaries from repo.spring.vmware.com.

What Kubernetes distributions are supported by Tanzu Spring?
All conformant Kubernetes distributions are supported including VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid.
What platforms does VMware tc Server support?
We support Windows/Mac/Linux environments.
Does the Tanzu Distribution of OpenJDK™ support mobile, desktop, ARM, or embedded platforms?
No, it only supports Linux and Windows server environments at this time.
